One of our customers shared this bit of wisdom with us: “My goal was to build my dream house without going crazy in the process!” Our goal at Blodgett is to help you create that dream kitchen or bath, and to take as much stress as we can out of the equation! Our professional design consultants have years of experience and training, and we stand ready to guide you at all stages of the project.
We first recommend that you set functional and design priorities. What is important to you? Do you want a luxury shower? A whirlpool? A toilet that economizes on water, yet doesn’t clog? The look and function of a spa, right in your own home? A kitchen sink large enough for your biggest pots? As you consider these functional issues, and research solutions, you should save photos and clippings that attract you. As you do so, your sense of style and taste will emerge, and make the planning and selection easier.
These days it’s easier than ever to do this kind of research. Although there continue to be numerous magazines devoted to the topic, the internet is becoming a prime place to research. One helpful site during the planning stage is American Standard’s, but there are many others. Take every opportunity to visit new homes, gathering your ideas along the way. Cut out pictures, print your web pages, and take photographs.
You will find it helpful at this early stage to visit our showroom. As you wander around, you will get lots of ideas from our product displays; we also have many catalogs for you to study. You’ll enjoy a collection of photographs from projects we have participated in. These “real world” photographs provide great inspiration, and show what can be accomplished when you collaborate with our knowledgeable people. Some of these photographs are available online. Please note that since our consultants work mainly on appointment, there may not be someone to devote a lot of time to you during this initial visit.
If you’re remodeling, your next step should be to take measurements of your existing space, including the location of existing windows and fixtures. It is at this point (even before you have selected a contractor) that we recommend you make an appointment to meet with a Blodgett consultant to review your project, and begin product selection. Our consultant will help you refine your choices, and ensure that all the technical considerations of your project are accounted for. If you are contemplating new construction, product selection at this stage will give your architect the dimensions they need to plan your space.
Your Blodgett consultant will help you develop a project plan, and then work with your contractor throughout the project to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Our goal is your complete satisfaction, as well as helping to take the stress and complexity out of your kitchen or bath project. And, of course, if our process works the way we planned together, you’ll minimize the stress…which helps you enjoy your new project all the more.
